Padma Lakshmi Bio

Padma Parvati Lakshmi is a Indian from Chennai who was born September 1st 1970. Lakshmi's parents divorced when she was just 2 years old. Her mother fled India to escape the stigma of divorce in India and moved to the United States. Lakshmi resided in Chennai with her maternal grandparents for two years, before moving to the United States. The couple divorced, and she has a younger brother and sister. Lakshmi is a name shared by the Hindu goddess wealth and prosperity. She grew up in New York, then moved to Los Angeles with her stepfather and mother. Each year she returned to India to visit relatives for a few more months. Padma Lakshmi became interested in acting in 1999. She was first seen in the movie "Figlio di Sandokan", an Italian pirate movie. Next, she appeared in "Caraibi" which is a drama about 17th Century pirates. In 2001, she played a comedy supporting role as the disco singer in  the film 'Glitter.' Padma is a mother of a child with Adam Dell (a venture capitalist). Krishna was born in February 2010, on 20 Feb 2010. Teddy Forstmann was her ex-chairman. He is currently the CEO of IMG. Lakshmi is currently dating American venture capitalist Adam Dell and the pair share a daughter, Krishna. Although she initially kept the identity of the child's father a secret, Lakshmi later revealed him to be Dell. Her daughter said, "Everything is better when she's around." "Anything that happens from the start of each day until the close of the day. I am not interested in anything else than her.
